Will abortion fears about gay rights change the outcome of mid-terms
As the political season heats up it is becoming more apparent that yes many Trump-backed candidates are winning the nomination of their party in states.
You may wonder what is behind this trend given the amount of news coverage of the Jan. 6th hearings. Voters are heated as they say about issues they care about! Topics that given them concern, and their wallets. So
How will the undoing of Gay rights and Abortion affect the outcome of the elections?
Political Issues impacting Voting
Many believe it is the frustration of the average voter when polls show as much as 85% of Americans feel significant political change is needed. They see the Loud Outspokeness of Donald Trump as someone who claims he can make it better and many feel a few years ago things were better. When people fear things are getting worse they may ignore obvious evidence or reasoning. It’s a fact, that Political issues are Impacting voting. On one hand, voters are being told that inflation is in the party due to the money supply being expanded by FREE money put into the economy. Then listening to politicians speak about adding more money to address issues like Electric Vehicles (EV) or Free College. This is the problem when you navigate a significant event like Covid and its economic consequences. People tend to vote with their wallets most of the time unless they fear things will impact them personally. Those things are things like School Safety, Gun Rights, Abortion, the Supreme Court, The economy, and gay rights. So first I will say the biggest issue is “How Many are affected by one of these?”. As the economy worsens more will be impacted, as the Court revisits case law more people could be affected by it and this trend creates more opportunities for an opposing party.
Will gay Rights affect the outcome of the election?
Gay donors often open up their wallets when they feel threatened. Given monkey Pox and it directly affects their community as well as the Supreme court potentially undoing Gay rights, Gay Marriage, and other social issues these are factors in groups like the Gay Community donating heavily to political parties. The gay community is not afraid of activism and like Abortion rights groups and the Black Lives Matter movement, they won’t be silent. The gay community spent Decades fighting the system that oppressed them and many are considered affluent compared to other demographics therefore their purchasing power for political speech is higher than many other groups.
Will Abortion Rights affect the Outcome of the election?
The Overturning of Row v. Wade by the court was in itself a landmark decision. An older poll done in 2018 by NPR suggest 60% of women and 54% of men describe themselves as pro-choice and given demographics if anything the gap leaning toward pro-choice is higher. I think this Supreme court victory for the Republicans could also be a dagger to their base. Given that fact in 2020 36% of Republicans were women and 45% of Democrats are Women.
Tuesday 2nd marked an important day as it began to put light on what is likely to be a sharp issue for both sides. “Tuesday marked the first vote on abortion in a post-Roe landscape. Kansans decided by a double-digit margin” as reported by FiveThirtyEight
Other topics such as Gun Runs, and School Safety could impact voting but are likely not as significant as the economy, and personal rights of the citizens. The reasons are the further we get away from a tragic event like a gun other issues become more concerning.
So, it will come down to what the White House does in these next 5 months to turn the ship. It appears the current leadership needs to reach out to former presidents and discuss what and how to change the course they are on. A recent report also shows that new tax plans could raise taxes on small businesses with incomes under $300,000 annually. The belief is that because they know big corporations will fight back and the government does not have the resources the easier tax bases are more vulnerable. These are the choices that leaders make that end up costing them second terms. As like mentioned earlier groups with dollars can impact elections.
Will abortion fears about gay rights change the outcome of mid-terms
As we wonder, “Will abortion fears about gay rights change the outcome of mid-terms” the answer comes down to how many people on both sides show up to be heard, counted, and vote. As well as what matters to them! The statics would say that democrats would win this next round but when your wallet is pinched you may choose to fight the social battles another day especially if you’re not impacted by those issues. Given the fear, and hardships people are starting to face regarding their ability to spend and the voting blocks who are least able to afford it is a big part of the democratic base?
What we know about Voters in Pain
A voter whose party is in control but is experiencing significant hardship as the result of what they perceive is the responsibility of the one they voted for is dissatisfaction impacts action. I suggest that if a voter is unhappy with any choice, they just won’t vote. The democratic party made promises to the d
Showing Up Is Half the Battle
The key is voting, and being counted. As much as you may think elections can be stolen it is much harder when real voters turn out.
I would also like to suggest you do not need to wait until the election to impact leadership! You can write letters, email, call, as well as show up at hearings to let your voice be heard. The math is simple if you invite 10 people and you tell those folks to invite 10 people you will have a crowd. This can be amazingly impactful on the local level. But, this also could be the start of activism in local politics and getting fresh new viewers involved. Many are wondering is it time for a more centrist party. A party with more equal balanced views and end the ping pong extremism that has dominated our nation. If you for example a Republican but dislike the choices you have then find new choices, Support New Choices, and vote out those who have lived in congress too long.
